So, there are several options to move to Panama permanently and legally. We will go deep into Panama's Special Immigration Laws on this occasion.

 

 

Treaty of Friendship, Commerce, and Navigation between the Republic of Panama and the Republic of Italy.

 

If you are Italian immigrating to Panama has a lot of advantages. There is a special law for foreigners of Italian nationality who wish to establish their residence indefinitely in our country. If you are willing to change the pasta for the sancocho, this is what you need to do.

 

Requirements:

1. Power of Attorney and Application (notarized).

2. Three (3) photographs.

3. Duly collated copy of the passport (Notary or corresponding authority.).

4. Criminal Record Certificate.

5. Health Certificate.

6. Certified Check for USD$250.00 in favor of the National Treasury.

7. Form of Sworn Declaration of Personal History.

8. A document that demonstrates the purpose to establish your residence (activity economic or professional to perform).

9. In case of dependents:

9.1. Letter of responsibility.

9.2. Proof of kinship.

9.3. Proof of address.

9.4. Over 18 years of age, present a certificate of single status and certified studies.

10. Proof that the resident has sufficient economic solvency, which may be accredited using a bank certification or account statement of the last month that reflects a balance of at least four average figures.

 

 

Foreign Nationals of Specific Countries that maintain Friendly, Professional, Economic, and Investment Relations with the Republic of Panama.

If you are a fortunate national of one of these countries, here are the requirements to immigrate to Panama:

1. Power of Attorney and request form (notarized).

2. Three (3) photographs.

3. Copy duly complained from the passport (notary or corresponding authority).

4. Criminal background certificate.

5. Health Certificate.

6. Check certified by USD$250.00 in favor of the National Treasury.

7. Check certified by USD$800.00 in favor of the National Migration Service.

8. Personal background Sworn Declaration Form.

9. A document that demonstrates the purpose to establish its residence (Economic or professional activity).

10. Copy of the identity document or card of your country.

11. In case of dependents:

11.1. Letter of responsibility.

11.2. The constancy of kinship.

11.3. Test of address.

11.4. Over 18 years, present Single certificate and certified studies.

12. Bank certification or state statement of the last month that reflects a balance of no less than four half-figures or another that demonstrates its income and that is Acceptable to the National Migration Service.

 

 

Professional Foreigner

 

If you are a professional and want to escape from the frosty winter, and not wait anymore for summer to hit the beach, Panama is the place to be. 

 

You can apply for this permit as a professional foreigner, as long as this profession is not limited by the Constitution of the Republic of Panama or by naturalization.

 

The requirements for a permanent permit as a foreign professional are:

1. Power of Attorney and request form signed by the foreigner (notarized).

2. Three (3) photographs.

3. Copy duly complained from the passport (notary or corresponding authority).

4. Criminal background certificate of your country of origin or last residence duly apostilled.

5. Health Certificate.

6. Check certified by USD$250.00 in favor of the National Treasury.

7. Check certified by USD$800.00 in favor of the National Migration Service.

8. Personal background Sworn Declaration Form.

9. Copy of the Diploma or University Title, Bachelor, Master's, or Doctorate duly apostilled or authenticated.

10. Comply with the valid approval process before national authorities corresponding in this case the University of Panama or the Technological University of Panama. 

 

 

Diplomats and Members of International Organizations of countries that maintain friendly diplomatic relations with the Republic of Panama have ceased to provide their services in their respective positions.

If you are a member of international organizations, such as the UN or UNESCO, or work as a diplomat for your country you can obtain the benefits of this special law. 

1. Power of Attorney and application form (notarized and with their respective revenue stamps).

2. Three (3) photographs.

3. Properly copied from the passport (notary or correspondent authority).

4. Criminal background certificate.

5. Health Certificate.

6. Check certified by USD$ 250.00 in favor of the National Treasury.

7. Check certified by USD$800.00 in favor of the National Migration Service.

8. Personal background sworn declaration form.

9. Certification of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country of origin or corresponding international organism that recognizes it as a diplomat member or server of an international organization, to provide its services in the Republic of Panama, for a period of no less than four (4) years.

10. Demonstrate that their diplomatic work in the Republic of Panama has deserved special recognition from the Panamanian government.

11. Demonstrate that they have complied with superior studies at the university level or their equivalent in any discipline of human knowledge.

12. Letter of Recognition and Recommendation of the Ministry of Exterior Relations of the Republic of Panama.

13. Charter of responsibility and certification that check the kinship, in case of having dependents.
